Impact analysis
This section was last updated in 2022 Q3
As part of Turner & Townsend’s commission to provide market analysis for Lidl, this impact analysis provides a bespoke study on the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine on global construction.
It highlights key changes, trends, and broad macroeconomic themes to enable Lidl to make data-driven decisions, critical to achieving success and improving speed to market. This exercise will allow Lidl to gain a better understanding of market forces and how markets of interest have evolved throughout recent market volatility.
This report has been structured into three sections. Firstly, there is a global overview, containing a broad synopsis of the high-level impacts of COVID-19 and the conflict in Ukraine across the world. Secondly, there is a European Union (EU) versus United States of America (USA) comparison. This section includes targeted analysis and visuals for both locations in order to explore the market responses to both COVID-19 and the conflict in Ukraine within the construction industry. The third section offers a view of core locations, with an exploration of these effects in more detail for Lidl’s priority markets. These include Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
This report uses quarterly and annual data to produce analysis and visuals to provide a top-down approach comparing both a broad perspective, in the Europe versus the US analysis, and a more specific market view, in the batch one country market overviews. This will help provide the following output:
- Support Lidl in future decision-making. Analysed data will highlight key movements within specific construction industry variables and how each one has reacted two the events of the last two years.
- Provide insight that will influence investment strategy via the comparison of both key countries and broader locations such as Europe and the USA.
- Content may also aid as a baseline against any internal opinions within Lidl.
