Introduction

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine is having lasting economic consequences on construction industries around the world.

One year after the outbreak of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the economic effects are still prevailing. Construction costs have soared because of supply chain disruption, energy prices and labour shortages.

As a result of consistent market variability, Turner & Townsend were approached by Lidl to provide an update on the conditions affecting the construction markets of interest.

In response to Lidl’s research request, Turner & Townsend have leveraged their in-house economics team to develop a comprehensive and custom market analysis report, tailored to the requirements of Lidl.

The corresponding outputs comprise a construction outlook sharing fast-track access to local knowledge and market intelligence across 30 countries of interest.

This report provides a view of construction market tendering conditions and industry outlook, skills and materials availability. It also includes construction input costs and current and forward-looking inflation allowances. This can help Lidl to gain a better understanding of local market forces and how markets of interest have evolved throughout recent market volatility.

This content can be found in the Market Breakdowns section of the online report. Each country has a dedicated space for relevant content and is listed alphabetically for ease of navigation.

The Impact Analysis section has been kept for reference as it was part of the previous version of the report. Following Lidl's request, this section has not been updated in the Winter 2022/23 version of the report.
